Detectives are hunting two masked robbers who dragged a man from his £20,000 sports car and threatened him with an iron bar before stealing his keys, his phone and the vehicle.

The incident happened just after 10pm in Glascote Road, last night (Wednesday), close to the new Aldi supermarket.

The robbers struck as the 23-year-old man pulled onto his driveway. As he sat in his ST Ford Focus car, two men got out of a black Jaguar car and approached him. One of the men dragged him out of the car and threatened him with an iron bar before searching him and stealing his phone and keys.

One then drove off in his car whilst the other drove off in the Jaguar, both heading in the direction of the town centre.

Detective Sergeant Jim Byrne is investigating the incident. He said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything at the scene or who saw the Ford Focus or the black Jaguar.

"Car jackings are rare and we believe this to be an isolated incident, but we would urge motorists to be vigilant."

The two men are said to have both been dressed in dark clothes and had hoods up and scarves over their faces.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 908 of March 15.
