Police are appealing for witnesses after arsonists set fire to a van and a caravan in Glascote - and made a failed attempt to set fire to a house.

The incidents all happened in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 24).

At around 2.30am a van parked in Canning Road was set alight. Ten minutes later a caravan parked on a driveway in St George's Way was torched, with flames spreading to the adjacent garage, trees and a trellis. Police are connecting the two incidents and a further one in which the offenders tried to set fire to a house.

Both the caravan and the van were gutted by the flames. Forensic teams have been at the scene of each blaze today to gather evidence.

Sgt Rich Gorman of Tamworth Police said: "We believe all of these incidents are connected and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward."

Tamworth Police can be contacted on 101. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
