Radio 4 programme visits Middleton Hall to learn about volunteering and history

The 35 year rescue programme to save and restore Middleton Hall near Tamworth is to be featured on a BBC Radio 4 programme this week.

The Open Country reporter Jules Hudson visited the hall – and listed buildings in nearby Fazeley - to learn about historic buildings can suffer from neglect, and how volunteering can change the landscape.

Jules also explores nearby Middleton Hall which was so neglected it was used as a motorbike track.

Volunteers set up a trust and have spent 35 years bringing it back into use. However, they say their work is still not done.

The programme airs on Thursday January 10 at 3pm.
